About

My name is Dalia de la O, and I am a professional dance instructor, choreographer, and performer.  Dancing, for me, has been a life changing experience.  I started dancing at a very young age and ever since, it has been the driving force of my life, my passion…my happiness.

Being able to share this passion of mine with others is what I always wanted to do.   I fell in love with dance while performing in regional dance shows and theater as a child.  Dance for me was a magical experience where I learned the laughter, joy and fun of movement and how it contributed to a happy life.  My training started at La Casa de la Cultura in Mexico with modern dance, Mexican folkloric dances, and gymnastics.

At the age of 18, I decided to leave everything behind to continue my education in Los Angeles and pursue my dream of becoming a professional dancer.   I studied at Millennium dance school, Edge Dance Academy, Arthur Murray Dance Studio, Ballroom Dance Academy, and Fred Astaire Dance Studio.  As well as being trained by former Latin dance champions Christian Perry, Jonathan Curtis, Corky Ballas, and Anna Trebunskaya. In 2009, I became a DVIDA certified instructor in: Waltz, Foxtrot, Tango, Rumba, Swing, Cha cha, Salsa, Bachata, Merengue, and more…  Ever since I have successfully worked freelance for several franchised and independent dance studios in Los Angeles and competed and performed at several national and international competitions

I’m always trying to learn something new, to improve and grow as a dancer and instructor.  My dance expertise consists of: gymnastics, Mexican folkloric dances, modern, jazz, hip hop, ballroom, Latin, Argentine tango, swing, Afro-Cuban, flamenco, character dances, theater arts, Bollywood and belly dancing. When I perform,  I love the connection that as an artist I create with my audience…a reaction, an emotion.  I learned that by teaching I’m not just giving people a temporary smile, but I’m giving them the tools to make it happen anytime they want!  Teaching has given me the opportunity to share this passion of mine to a complete different level.
